All about Me!
Well, the New Year is here, and apparently in full swing! I know that to many, January 1st is just another day, but to me, it signified the chance for a new beginning! And so it is!
Over the years, I have tried desperately (and failed miserably) to keep journals and/or some recollection of events and happenings in my life. As a result, I often find myself wondering where the years have gone!?!
This is the part where Blogger comes in...
As part of my New Year's resolution, I have officially christened 2006 as the year that is going to be "ALL ABOUT ME"! My journey of personal growth. And I want to remember it!
Not to be selfish, but going on 29 and finding myself recently single, I realize it's time that I figure out who I am, start taking better care of ME, and most importantly, doing things that make me feel FABULOUS!
Here are 2 discoveries I have made over the past couple of weeks that have contributed to my cause:
John Fluevog
After aimlessly browsing the web at work one day, a co-worker introduced me to the Fluevog website. Literally, within seconds of opening the link, I had found the perfect pair of leather boots. It was love at first site! Even better, for a small donation of $329 (+taxes and S&H), I could have the privilege of owning them.
Now, let me say that I have NEVER, and I repeat NEVER, spent $329 on a pair of boots in my life and wasn't about to start now! But I had to have these boots!
As fate would have it, I happened to be browsing the site the following day, and discovered that my beloved pair of Fluevogs was now on sale. It was a sign! Cursed credit card in hand, I bravely purchased them.
After waiting impatiently for my shipment to arrive, the day had finally come! I excitedly opened the box to admire my new boots. They were as wonderful as I had imagined! I carefully removed them from the box and pulled them on (Cinderella style). WHAM! The transformation was almost instantaneous! I felt like a million bucks! Not only did they fit perfectly, but they are the most comfortable pair of 3inch heels that I have EVER worn!
I know that most of you are probably thinking "It's just a pair of boots", but to me, they are so much more than that. Which leads me to the following quote: "Before you judge a person, walk a mile in their shoes".
Well, if you want to walk a mile in my shoes, you better believe that you are going to look damn good while doing it!
So, to anyone who says a pair of shoes can't change your life, go out and splurge! Happy shopping!
My fabulous boots!
Love Smart by Dr.Phil McGraw
The second discovery comes courtesy of my best friend B. In her words, "You HAVE to read it", "Guess what, we're not alone", and my personal favorite..."It will change your life!". Now, I am not one to feed into the commercialized psychobable that seems to be quite prevalent these days, but B's unusually overwhelming reaction to this book peaked my curiosity. So I went out and bought it. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Love Smart is an extremely easy read and I often found myself wondering how Dr.Phil knew so much about ME! Anyhow, I would highly recommend it to any single women out there who ever question their self-worth and wonder if they will ever find the right man. You are not alone! If any of you have already read it, let me what you think! Cheers!
